Policy

How we work, in black and white

Here you can read briefly how we work. You can request the full pedagogical policy plan and our protocols from us.

Pedagogical policy

Four goals for every child

Our pedagogical policy is built on the four upbringing goals of the Dutch Childcare Act (Wet kinderopvang).

  • Emotional safety. A child feels safe and at home, with familiar faces in a fixed group.
  • Personal competence. A child develops self-confidence and independence, at their own pace.
  • Social competence. A child learns to play together, share and consider others.
  • Norms and values. A child learns what we find important in how we treat each other, such as being caring and tidying up after play.

We follow every child’s development and discuss it with you.

Safety and health

A safe, healthy place

We work with a safety and health policy. In it, we map the main risks and make agreements to limit them. We keep that policy up to date together with the team.

  • In case of illness we follow the guidelines of the GGD (the public health service). We discuss our health protocol with you at the intake.
  • We work according to the four-eyes principle: another adult can always see or hear what is happening.
  • We work with the reporting code for domestic violence and child abuse (meldcode).

Parents

Together with you

At drop-off and pick-up there is time for a short handover. That way we know how things are at home, and you hear how the day went.

We follow your child’s development and discuss it with you in parent meetings.

Parents have a say through the parents’ committee (oudercommissie), which advises on matters including the pedagogical policy, safety and health, and the fees. Would you like to be involved? Let us know.

Complaints

If something is not right

Are you unhappy about something? Please discuss it with us first. Usually we solve it together. If that does not work, you can submit a formal complaint under our complaints procedure.

For advice and mediation you can also contact the Klachtenloket Kinderopvang (childcare complaints desk). If we cannot resolve it together, you can take the complaint to the Geschillencommissie Kinderopvang (childcare disputes committee).

Inspection

Inspected by the GGD

The GGD inspects Kinderdagpaleis Boerhaave on behalf of the City of Amsterdam. The inspection looks at safety, health, the pedagogical climate and the staff, among other things.

The inspection reports are public. You can find them in the Landelijk Register Kinderopvang (national childcare register) under registration number 118480145.

Privacy

Careful with data

We handle your and your child’s data with care, in line with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). We only ask for what is needed for good care, and we do not share data without a reason.

Our privacy statement explains which data we record, why, how long we keep it and what rights you have.
